CTS Excavations, LLC performs excavation and site preparation services for both commercial and residential projects. We have been in business since 2007 and our current primary job sites are in North Alabama including the Huntsville and Madison area as well as Jackson County. The majority of our projects are site preparation for subdivisions with curbs, gutters, storm drains including underground sanitary & storm sewer, domestic water and underground electrical utilities. We are seeking an experienced Lowboy Driver, CDL A to join our team. The work is more than 95% local where the driver is home each night.

Job Description
The Lowboy Driver will transport construction equipment (excavator, dozer,skid steer, etc.) to various job sites in Huntsville AL including the CTS shop located in Scottsboro AL.

Job Duties
• Safely load and unload heavy construction equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, articulated trucks, compactors, and additional construction equipment, supplies, and materials.
• Safely operate a tractor-trailer, loaded and unloaded, on federal, state, and local roads in varying types of traffic conditions.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip truck equipment inspections and all required safety equipment including, but not limited to; tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water, etc. before each shift to assure equipment is safe for usage. Complete written daily inspection report as required. Submit request for maintenance for any repair items.
• Maintain compliance as required by state, federal, and company policies and regulations. Knowledge of relevant USDOT & FMCSA safety regulations
• Receive designated directions from supervisor.
• Load and unload construction equipment, typically working alone, but may be assisted by others.
• Operate truck safely to and from project destination and prepare and acquire customer or crew leader signatures for load delivered.
• Accurately prepare daily time reports, load sheets and other paperwork.
• Maintain telephone, messaging, and/or radio contact with supervisor for instructions. This may include after work hours and during the weekend.
• Perform emergency roadside repairs including, but not limited to, changing tires, installing light bulbs, installing tire chains.
• Position blocks and/or tarps to secure load for transit.
• Perform all safety procedures required by governmental agencies and those established by CTS Excavations LLC.
• Employee may be sent to other facility locations and operations to perform other duties as required.
• Communicate with Crew Leaders and external vendors and subcontractors via phone and messaging.

Qualifications
• At least 2 years of lowboy driving experience.
• Effective communication (both oral and written), organization and interpersonal skills.
• Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and passionate for continuous improvement
• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Required to carry a current medical examiners certificate.
• Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship, both now & in the future.
• Must have a valid CDL Class A Driver’s License, with an approved driving status.
• Must have a clean driving record that meets CTS Excavations insurance requirements.
• Registered with FMCSA Clearinghouse with an unprohibited status.

Wage Commensurate with experience. $21 - $24 per hour

Workweek & Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that our Lowboy Driver encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
• Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Monday thru Friday workweek with occasional assignments on the weekend depending on weather.
• Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds and carry at least 30 pounds personally.
• Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise.
• Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
• Work involves close proximity to high traffic areas, both in and out of construction zones
• Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and ready mixed concrete.
• The position is full time, and expected to work more than 40 hours per week. Candidate may need to work extra hours to ensure that deadlines are met.
